August 2016

Current Distance traveled 6977 kms
Got a couple of rides in after India but then went to QLD with Mads & Cheryl for the School aerobics nationals. They came third but by the time we were back I was 3 days behind the baseline. From a 30 day lead.
500 clicks in 8 days got me back in front by 7. Backed off from there but did a 120km day on the 28th. I'm still apologising to Harry Miriklis for not carrying a spare on the mountain bike. Managed to back up with another 65km the day after but didnt look at the bike for the next two days.
Gotta get this done by mid November......

End July 2016 - Current Distance travelled 6046kms
Not much to report in the end for July. I took a call on the 1st of July and by the 7th of July I was on a plane to India. As you can see - my lead has been decimated. While away it was work work work with a couple of short sessions on the exercise bike. I now have some extra work to do. Luckily I banked a lot of effort in Autumn and it has paid off thus far. There is a long way to go and I need to hedge against more unforeseen breaks in routine. Keep rolling my friends - when the going gets tough, the tough turn pro. Don't forget to check the website from time to time to check for updates

July Update (Part 1)

Well I have managed to eat into my 31 day advantage which <i had managed to build up over 6 long months.
I am currently at 16 days and falling fast - it has been depressing watching how fragile a lead like that is, especially when you are feeling quite indestructible insofar as these things go.

I leave you with some images which come as the indirect benefit of me not cycling much at the moment

June 2016

May/June update:
5874 kms - 31 days in front today
You can tell by the lack of an update in May that I had a motivation crash. I rode only 9 days out of the first 21 days of May. Change of weather and the riding in the dark is always a transition that no-one likes. Luckily by the end of the month the Global Corporate Challenge started and I got back on the bike and got going. (we managed to hang onto a top ten spot globally for nearly three weeks! Back to #28 in the world now)
Still struggling to get outside on the weekends but back to five days a week (well, mostly) which is good.
It was a wet month in June. The trick is watching for the windows to open on the BOM radar to try and sneak through without getting soaked. Some days it cant be helped & I've had a couple of cold nights where it rained heavily for the full 75 minutes.
One thing I've noticed is that my times have slowed down & I dont seem to recover from the muscle soreness as well. I guess thats due to all the recovery debt I've loaded into the legs or something. Being well looked after by Michael Linden at NSTT who I must take the opportunity to highly recommend if you are in the eastern suburbs.
So - Solstice is done & the days are getting longer already. We are back to a 7am twilight by the 22nd July which is only 3 weeks away!
